Restylane for Marionette Lines in Beverly Hills
We get a lot of people interested in getting rid of their Marionette lines asking about Restylane. Restylane is a great option for marionette lines, as well as other folds or hollow areas of the face (such as nasolabial folds, the under-eye area, etc.). Restylane is a product made from hyaluronic acid (HA), just like Juvederm, Perlane, and Belotero. The differences between these have mostly to do with crosslinking and viscosity (how thick it is). Restylane often lasts between 6 and 9 months in most patients. Radiesse is a different material (calcium hydroxyapatite) and lasts a little longer (9 to 12 months). But if this is your first time getting fillers, Restylane is a great choice
The most common post-procedure issues we here from our Beverly Hills skin clients are bruising and bumps in the treatment area. It is normal to experience some bruising and swelling after a Restylane or dermal-filler treatment. Even experienced practitioners will see lumps or bumps after injection. In some cases of over-correction, asymmetry, or undesirable bumps, a product called Wydase (a Hyaluronidase enzyme) can be used to soften and encourage breakdown of the injected filler.
To minimize bruising for future treatments, stop taking aspirin, vitamin E, fish-oil, St. John's Wort, and Motrin 2-weeks prior to your appointment. You may also want to try Arnica (oral and topical) pre- and post-treatment. Arnica is available over-the-counter at your local drug/healthfood store. Avoid the temptation to massage out the bumps this could cause further swelling and alter the filler before its set.
With all fillers, we recommend scheduling your appointment approximately 10 to 14 days prior to any special event to allow for resolution of any swelling and to ensure that you are looking your best. Contact our Beverly Hills plastic surgery office today if you are interested in Restylane or just want to talk to someone about your options. We are more than happy to help you look and feel your best.
